Inhalation sedation (Relative Analgesia) suitable for both children and adults, providing a calming effect during treatment.
Intravenous (IV) sedation involves administering a sedative drug through a vein, typically in the arm or hand. This method helps patients who experience dental anxiety by inducing a state of deep relaxation. While under IV sedation, you remain conscious and can respond to verbal cues, but you’ll feel drowsy and may have little to no memory of the procedure. This approach is particularly beneficial for those undergoing complex dental treatments or who have significant dental phobias.
IV sedation is considered safe when administered by trained dental professionals. During the procedure, your vital signs, including heart rate and oxygen levels, are closely monitored. After the treatment, you may feel drowsy, and it’s essential to have a responsible adult accompany you home. It’s advised to rest for the remainder of the day and avoid activities that require alertness, such as driving
A dental emergency includes situations like severe toothaches, broken or knocked-out teeth, dental abscesses, and significant oral bleeding. If you’re experiencing intense pain or trauma to your teeth or gums, it’s crucial to seek immediate dental care.
We prioritise emergency cases and strive to offer same-day dental appointments. Our team is available 24/7 to address urgent dental needs promptly.
Inhalation sedation, commonly known as “happy air,” uses a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen delivered through a small mask placed over the child’s nose. This technique helps alleviate dental anxiety by inducing a sense of relaxation and well-being. The child remains awake and can communicate throughout the procedure, making it a suitable option for nervous or anxious young patients.
Inhalation sedation is widely regarded as a safe and effective method for managing dental anxiety in children. Side effects are minimal but may include light-headedness or nausea, which typically subside quickly. It’s important to inform the dental team if your child has a blocked nose or respiratory issues, as these can affect the effectiveness of the sedation.
Dental abscesses and swelling can indicate serious infections. It’s essential to contact our emergency dental clinic immediately. We can provide prompt treatment to relieve pain and prevent further complications.
If you’ve chipped or broken a tooth, it’s important to seek prompt attention from an emergency dentist. Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Avoid chewing on the affected side and contact our clinic immediately to schedule an emergency dental appointment. Timely treatment can prevent further damage and restore your tooth effectively.
